About the Event

Join Jennifer Jurlando of Thistle Community Death Care for a workshop on death, dying, and end-of-life ritual planning, tailored to the Pagan community. Participants will discuss our standing cultural beliefs about death and our community’s perception of a “good death.” Trends in burial and ritual in the Pagan community, as well as the importance of communicating wishes will be discussed.

A guided Death meditation will help participants consider the rites and rituals they would like used to mark their body at the end of their lives.Time will be dedicated to writing, drawing, and/or painting initial thoughts about death plans.

Participants will have a chance to perform body preparation and shrouding rituals on a “corpse” in a mock home funeral.

Each person will leave with the beginning of a plan for their own end-of-life, their preferences for the treatment of their bodies after death, and ideas for starting conversations with loved ones about death and final wishes. Oils, paints, herbs, and sample shrouds will be provided. Participants should bring a journal and/or sketch pad.

Please note: This event takes place on private property, therefore the exact address will only be provided to those who register to attend.
